Bebe Cool, in keeping with tradition, has Wednesday, January 1, dropped his long-awaited list of the top performers in the music industry in 2024.
The list recognises musicians who stood out from the rest and made big contributions to the music industry in the previous year.
The Gagamel Entertainment boss noted a slight decline in the performance in the music industry this year.
He cited factors including evolving technology, social media, and the economy which have impacted music both positively and negatively.
Below is the list:
Elijah Kitaka: Swangz Avenue struck gold with this artist. His style is on point and he is poised to conquer Africa and beyond. He is relatable to young people. I as Bebe Cool, if I was just starting out in music, I would want to be like him.
Azawi-Masavu: She is a force to reckon with. This tiny but strong artist has delivered a massive hit Masavu. While fashion might not be her strong suit, her musical prowess is borderless. Piece of advice: Stay away from politics and political statements unless you have plans to drop from music. I am your best example. The luggage to carry is extremely overwhelming. It will require physical financial and individual input.
D star - “Ozambe:” I have never seen people so happy dancing to a song like Ozambe. He is from the ghetto but you can see how disruption can give rise to a big hit.
Kapeke - Swiririri: He reminds me of our olden days of struggle. His songs are enjoyable and yet I don't know much about him. He is elegantly an artist.
Acidic Vokoz: He is delightfully confusing in the sense that I do not even know what he looks like, yet he pulled a big audience at Lugogo. I cannot exclude him from the list. My advice to him though is that he should have more easy-to-grasp hooks in his songs and also try to put his brand better.
Stream of Life Choir - Lukusuuta: The word of God is very welcome today because, besides our music, we need that spiritual aspect. It also gives us hope that we are seeing gospel music competing favourably with secular music.
Nandor Love - Kinawolovu: This is a great song, but advice to her management, she needs to change the dance style, fans are dancing to the song better than she does.
Ava Peace, Dax Vibez-Tabbu: She is a great artist. Her management has done well. I think she is going to surplus at the Ugandan level. I hope she will be disciplined and consistent with her management.
Arronix - Njalwala: He has had a remarkable journey: I am told he was a taxi conductor. This is how beautiful music can be because now he has a hit.
Pretty Banks - Insido: I am a big fan of this song. I don't know much about her but we pray that she carries on like this.
Lil Pazo-Enkudi: It would be unfair if I did not appreciate an artist who has struggled so much. This was a big song, although it was it was ruined by the vulgarity. He needs to change his style. I want to be able to associate with him, not to avoid him because he is undesirable. If he carries on, he will start being ditched by the corporate world and lose a lot of opportunities.
Alien Skin: This is a mysterious artist, I put him on this list so that people, fans and musicians can discuss and understand him.
David Lutalo, Rema Namakula - Love Commissioner: I would say it is the best collaboration of the year, a great execution. It is not a surprise coming from the two big artists.
Joshua Baraka - Dalilah and Digii: These are big songs not just in Uganda but outside as well. He deserves the Artist of the Year title. We are seeing an artist working hard to build something great.
Bebe Cool - Circumference: This song provides how hype is part of music promotion. It is only two weeks with no video but nearly knows about it.
