Nyonyozi, who wore her crown, a Miss Uganda-branded T-shirt, and a scarf during the visit, sparked debate among netizens. Many criticised her choice of attire, arguing that it appeared overly glamorous for an environment requiring practical involvement and where people were grieving.
However, some defended her, noting that the look is a standard part of her role. They pointed out that Miss Uganda Chief Executive Brenda Nanyonjo, along with other pageant members who accompanied Nyonyozi, were similarly dressed in branded outfits.
The internet's reaction also included a flurry of memes, one suggesting that Nyonyozi might even wear her Miss Uganda ensemble while showering.
Natasha Nyonyozi was crowned Miss Uganda 2024/25 on Saturday, August 3, during a ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala. The Kiteezi landfill collapse, which occurred last week, tragically claimed the lives of two dozen people.
