Music promoter Abitex has accused fellow promoter Balaam Barugahara of using witchcraft after narrowly avoiding a roll-up banner during a press conference.
Abitex, who was addressing the media about Catherine Kusasira's upcoming concert, was nearly struck by the banner promoting the event, but it was caught just in time before it hit him on the head. He claimed that Balaam was behind the incident, attributing it to witchcraft.
Kusasira’s concert is scheduled for January 10 at the Sheraton Gardens in Kampala, coinciding with Spice Diana's performance at the Kampala Serena Hotel on the same day.
Balaam Barugahara, who now serves as the State Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, is facing consequences for maintaining ties with some of his former associates, who appear to be less than appreciative of his new role.
Just last week, he was left visibly upset when fellow events promoter Bajjo (real name Alfonse Mukasa) interrupted him during a media address. Barugahara and Bajjo have shared a long-standing friendship, often engaging in playful banter both online and offline. However, it seems Bajjo failed to recognise that Barugahara's new government position demands a certain level of decorum in certain situations.
While speaking to the press, Bajjo stood next to Barugahara and began shouting about unrelated matters, which angered the minister. Unable to hide his frustration, Barugahara walked away, making it clear that he was displeased.
Although Barugahara has spent much of his career as a businessman, he was appointed as a minister in March 2024. Despite his new role, he has not entirely abandoned his casual persona—partly due to his continued involvement with youth-related initiatives and businesses.
