Renowned Ugandan model and philanthropist Judith Heard took to social media yesterday to seek more assistance in identifying her late father.
Lt. John Musana, died while serving in the National Resistance Army (NRA).
Heard, who shared a heartfelt tribute to her father, revealed that she never had the chance to know him and hopes to uncover his story with the help of the public.
A Daughter’s Emotional Appeal
In her posts, Heard described her father as her "hero" and "guiding light," sharing an old photograph of him in his military uniform.
“He sacrificed his life in the line of duty with unwavering dedication and love,” she wrote.
Heard expressed the deep pain she has carried over the years, not knowing her father’s full story.
“I’ve carried the pain of not knowing my father for so long. A man who gave his life in service, yet his story remains untold,” she lamented.
She said he hoped to learn more about her father’s life, his service, and his legacy.
Her emotional plea resonated with many of her followers, who responded with words of encouragement and suggestions on how she might gain more information.
Positive Responses from the Public
Former Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, Assan Kasingye, was among those who responded to Heard’s appeal.
Kasingye identified Lt. John Musana’s uniform as belonging to the Military Police in Makindye, adding that formal ranks in the NRA were introduced in 1988, offering Heard a potential lead.
Several other followers suggested that Heard reach out to retired military officers who may have served alongside her father.
They also pointed her to key offices and institutions that could provide records or connect her with individuals familiar with her father’s service.
A Journey for Closure
Heard said the quest to uncover her father’s story was not just about understanding her past but also about honouring his memory.
She expressed a deep desire to pay her respects and “bury him as he deserves.”
She concluded her posts with a poignant message: “May his soul continue to rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy lives on through those he left behind. I miss you, Dad, and I strive to make you proud every day.”
