Eddy Kenzo has a fundamental disagreement with his ex-lover Rema Namakula on exposing young children to the internet.

Kenzo believes putting one’s child out on social media is a “mistake” that he made once and is not willing to repeat.

The mistakes we made when we were young can't be repeated over and over,” Kenzo said in a recent interview.

When you land yourself in a mistake you have to learn and correct yourself.”

The award-winning artist was responding to questions on why he has not revealed the child he has with his current partner and state minister for minerals, Hon Fiona Nyamutoro.

Although he knows that this child will eventually be seen by the public, Kenzo says, at a young age, social media exposure is not the correct path.

My children will always be popular in one way or the other, but while they are still at this stage I have to protect them. I have to let them grow a little older,” he said.

Rema deffers

Rema Namakula on the other hand, does not believe there is much harm in putting one’s babies on social media.

Earlier this month, she defended her decision to put her 3-year-old toddler Aaliyah on social media, saying it is every parent’s right to raise their child how they see fit.

If it is your child, you can treat them whichever way you want, if you want to put them online you can do that and if you don't feel like it, then you shouldn’t; because it is your child," she said.

Aaliyah, Rema’s first child with her husband Hamza Ssebunya has a strong presence on social media.
