Media personality Martha Kemigisha Kagimba, better known as Martha Kay, has opened up about the struggles she faced with low self-esteem, pain, isolation, and difficulty breathing during her weight-loss journey.
In a candid post on her X timeline, Kagimba shared her intentions to inspire others who are battling similar challenges, aiming to help them on their journey towards both physical and mental wellness.
At the start of last year, I was trapped in a body and mind weighed down by hopelessness. I was devastated, feeling like I had completely lost control of myself. The exhaustion, the constant aches, the struggle to even breathe properly... It was more than just weight—it was pain, shame, and isolation.
My self-esteem was at an all-time low! I avoided mirrors, photos, even people because I couldn’t face what I had become.
Taking Charge
Kagimba revealed that she made the difficult decision to take charge of her life, choosing to face her challenges head-on.
I made a decision. I chose to take charge of my life. Step by step, I fought my way back—mentally and physically! It wasn’t easy. There were days I broke down, days I wanted to give up. But I kept pushing forward, determined to reclaim my life.

Through sheer determination, Kagimba’s hard work began to pay off.
Transformation and Empowerment
And now? Not only is my body transforming, but my mind and soul feel lighter. My energy is back. My confidence is stronger. I feel alive again
Kagimba recently revealed that she has lost 22kg in her weight-loss journey and now plans to launch a campaign to support others facing similar challenges.
