- Blu*3, the girl group from Uganda, formed in 2004, recently had a successful reunion concert after 15 years

- The group has already booked a performance for the King of Tooro, and their fees for performances in Uganda range from Shs15m to Shs25m
Performing for the first time in over 15 years, the original Blu*3, consisting of singers Cinderella Sanyu aka Cindy, Jackie Chandiru and Lillian Mbabazi, took fans on a nostalgic trip in a reunion concert that left a lasting impression.
Filling the concert venue at Sheraton Hotel, the trio showcased their smooth vocals as the crowds sang along.

Now, weeks after the concert, the group is open for business after receiving overwhelming interest from fans for another experience of the same.
While speaking to Sanyuka, Cindy revealed that Talent Africa boss Aly Alibhai has taken over future bookings for the group as it would be irregular to negotiate with each of the three individual artists given that they are full-time solo artists.
“We decided that Aly Alibhai should be our booking agent,” she revealed.
Cindy added that they have already booked for a royal function as Blu*3.
“We are going to continue working together. We have an upcoming performance for the King of Tooro,” she said.
“Blu*3 as a brand is quite expensive. Not everybody can afford Blu*3. We can’t have those shows as regular because we can’t compromise the standard of Blu*3. Adjustments can be made with Cindy as an individual but not Blu*3.”
When asked about the booking charges, Cindy advised interested parties to contact Aly Alibhai but added that the fees could be in the region of Shs15m-Shs25m for performances within Uganda.
Collaborative effort
Cindy noted how she enjoys performing with the group, saying the collaborative efforts relieve her of the pressure she faces while singing as a solo artist.
“When performing alone, the pressure is very high. The music we do is about the harmonies and vocals, not dancing and these girls are just amazing. With Blu 3 it is not just me but we are three,” she said.
“Blu *3 is not about dancing; it is about the vocals, the singing, the costume, and all the glamour.”
Ugandans love quality music
Speaking about the reunion concert, Cindy noted that she was in shock with the overwhelming response from the public.
“I couldn’t believe what was happening. I wanted to pinch myself. It’s been like 20 years without performing on the same stage. The music we were singing was old but the tables of Shs5m, Shs10m were full. Several artists came to show support and the Kampala Sheraton Hotel was full. It was amazing,” she said.
“Ugandans love quality music and the fans proved that. It was so reassuring. The music we were singing is old but people and several artists turned up and filled the venue.”
Blu*3 was formed in 2004 after winning the TV show Coca-Cola Popstars. After winning the contest, the trio went on to record the albums Hitaji and Burrn.
