Bebe Cool has confirmed that his Gagamel team was part of the gang that was involved in the mayhem at the New Year’s Ekuuka show in Bulange Mengo.
The singer revealed that his squad coordinated with that of Fangone Forest of Alien Skin.
The squads, he said, were primarily deployed to take on opposition supporters who he believes had been placed strategically in the crowd to hurl bottles at him and Alien.
“That team consisted of Gamamel and Fangone,” Bebe Cool said yesterday while announcing his 2024 music list.
“My team sat with Fangone and planned.”
Bebe Cool denies direct participation
Bebe Cool however said he was never directly involved in the planning of the offence and that neither was Alien Skin.
“I didn't even meet with him; we never talked about this with him prior to the show. It was only the teams,” he said.
“Fangone and Gagamel teams sat together and made their calculations and they brought the idea.
“We knew that there were a few that had been placed (the crowd) to throw bottles and projectiles but we were ready.”
“We placed the team on the stage to have a better view of the crowd so that if they spot one person hurling a bottle, the team on the ground goes for them.”
The Enkuuka show turned chaotic following the arrival of Alien Skin.
The Fangone gang beat up scores of revellers as they forced their way to the stage.
These were later seen shielding Alien, and later on Bebe Cool and Ronald Mayinja during their performances.
Images from the show sparked outrage online with many castigating the Uganda Police for not taking action.
Alien Skin has been involved in a string of other skirmishes including an attack on Nsambya Hospital where staffers were injured, and more recently, the vandalisation of the opposition head offices in Kavule.
