Swangz Avenue singer Veronica Nakiyingi aka Vinka said she is open to the possibility of starting her own record label.

She made the revelation on Wednesday while responding to rumours that have been going around about the contracts of some of her fellow artists at Swangz.

She said, however, that while starting a new rebel is possible, she doesn't see herself leaving Swangz in the near future.

“It is possible for me to start a record label but I’d still stay with Swangz to mainly handle my bookings,” Vinka told Bukedde TV.

“I can still be under Swangz and run my record label.

Still with Swangz

On why she hasn’t entertained the idea of leaving Swangz Avenue, she said, she doesn’t feel capable of running or managing her own talent.

“As a musician, I don't wish to be without management because all my life I grew up as an organised person. How can I live a life where all calls come to me?” she said.

“You just need to understand that in doing this work, some people have to share a part of what you make. It is business. If you are working with someone they have a percentage they have to take."

Duo personality

In the interview, Vinka also opened up about her life, describing herself as a “shy person” living a duo personality

As Vinka the artist, said she is an open and outgoing person, but that in her off-stage personality as Veronica, she is much more timid.

Often, she said, people mistake this as pride.

“I am a shy person off stage. I am like that,” she said.

“Vinka is not shy but Vero is. The two are different. Vero is scared of people. You just have to be understanding. If you meet me out there, you might think I am hiding from you it is just that I have trouble mixing with people,” she added.
