My children’s love for music worries me - First Daughter Natasha

The 48-year-old worries she’s an “old school” mother who constantly gets worried about the paths that her children are taking.

Natasha says she is an old school mother

In an interview which recently resurfaced and went viral online, Natasha admitted getting concerned about her children’s hobbies.

“I pray that I can be the same kind of parent as my parents because I see myself as quite an old-school mother,” she said in the interview which first aired on UBC TV in 2020.

“When I see and hear my children talk about music and that kind of stuff, I am like whaaaat? I am not sure how to handle it, yet I went down the same route,” she said.

I had supportive parents

In contrast, Natasha says her parents were very flexible with her and allowed her to explore life and make personal decisions.

For instance, when she decided to join fashion and design after school, she says, her father was very understanding and supportive, even though some of her family members weren’t.

“My parents saw my strengths and my struggles,” she said.

“Even though I was really a good student, my father was very supportive when I told him I wanted to do fashion. He blessed me.”

“I remember hearing other people’s parents talking about me saying, ‘what a waste, she could have done something for serious’”

Natasha in the interview, also talked her elder brother Muhoozi Kainerugaba, describing him as an introvert during to his military training.
