Just over three months after her lavish wedding with Kyabazinga William Nadiope Gabula, the queen made a public appearance at the Igenge place to announce her plans for her people.
A select group of invited guests including kingdom leaders, heads of clans, government officials led by Dorothy Kisaka the KCCA Executive Director and local businessmen and women showed excitement as they welcomed the queen.
Mutesi kicked off the afternoon by launching her tree-planting initiative.
Over 2million trees are expected to be planted under this initiative according to an earlier announcement by the Busoga Kingdom, as “a symbolic gesture celebrating the arrival of the Inhebantu.”
Additionally, the queen will mobilize Busoga subjects to actively participate in the government’s Parish Development Model, contributing to noble development efforts in the region.
The Inhebantu also took part in other culturally symbolic activities including tending to a banana plantation and preparing a local dish.
By publication of this story, Mutesi was set to give her first public address to the subjects, which was expected to focus on poverty eradication, fighting the high school dropout, and early pregnancies in the kingdom.
