Mrs Alwoc is the eldest daughter to the recently deceased area MP Hon Cecilia Ogwal who passed away on January 18th in India, losing a battle to cancer.
The Late Ogwal had held the parliamentary seat since 2006 when Dokolo District was carved out of Lira District. She was a member of the FDC.
The Najjanankumbi-based opposition party despite being significantly sidelined in Ogwal’s state-funded funeral, is looking to retain the parliamentary seat at all costs.
During her burial, the FDC President Patrick Amuriat Oboi told mourners and residents to honour the late Ogwal by replacing her with a person of her favored party.
This (Monday) morning, the party leadership led by President Oboi met Mrs Alwoc at the part offices in an effort to entice her to carry the party flag in the by-election.
The closed-door meeting was also attended by a handful of family members.
The development comes amid reports that the ruling NRM party has eyes on Alwoc as its flag bearer.
Shortly after her burial in Alito Sub County in Kole district last Saturday, the NRM leadership announced plans to start the selection of its flag bearer for the post.
Party Secretary General Richard Todwong said the NRM was seriously mobilizing to ensure that its flag bearer is the eventual replacement for the revered legislator.
"This coming month, we shall send a team to Dokolo to reorganize the party and after that, we shall start the process of picking a flagbearer in the Dokolo Woman MP by-election," said Todwong after meeting party leaders in Otuta village, Abeli Parish, Akalo sub-county in Kole District.
"We have a flagbearer who contested against the late Atat Ogwal in 2021 but we are yet to find out whether she is still interested in the sea," he added.
The electoral commission is yet to release the roadmap for the Dokolo byelection.
