Gen Nalweyiso, who recently retired from the army, also vowed to personally follow up on Bajjo claims.
A video by the controversial music promoter in which he claims that powerful people were after him, went viral in the same week that a gunman attacked and murdered blogger Isma Olaxes Tusubira, alias Jajja Ichuli on May 6th, 2023.
In the video, Bajjo purports that the threats on his life are coming from the camp of Presidential advisor on special operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who had earlier blocked him on Twitter.
But in an interview, Nalwesiso criticized Bajjo for making the allegations in the media, instead of seeking help from the Police.
As such, Nalweyiso, who at the time of her retirement was the highest ranking officer in Uganda and East Africa, directed top officials in Uganda Police to look into the claims.
She also directed The Police Director for Crime Intelligence, AIGP Brig Christopher Ddamulira to get in touch with Bajjo and have his issues resolved.
“Bajjo if you are listening to this, go to Brig Ddamulira and report this matter. I am directing him to look for you together with my brother (Tom) Magambo. I have asked them to look for you and you tell them who wants you dead,” Nalweyiso said in an interview on Tuesday May 9th, 2023.
AIGP Tom Magambo is the director of Police’s Criminal Investigations.
“We don't want you to end up dead and then we are told that we were forewarned,” she added.
Regarding the gruesome murder of Jajja Iculi, Nalweyiso said this would be a gross abuse of power, if indeed the blogger was killed because of his political views.
“I don't support the notion that someone will take another person’s life because they don't agree with you,” she said.
“The president’s intention all along was to liberate this country to the extent that even the stupidest person can stand up and make the stupidest comment, and they won’t be touched by anyone.”
Gen Nalweyiso also advised all Ugandan bloggers and social media influencers to avoid speaking recklessly in public about high-stake topics involving powerful people, but to secretly share any incriminating information with the police.
