The FOYA Awards, held at Simba Corp Aspire Centre in Westland Nairobi, were established in 2016 to recognize and appreciate young founders who contribute to the development of the African continent. The awards celebrate those who create sustainable jobs through entrepreneurship and inspire others to start their own businesses. Katushabe stood out among 14 other nominees from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania in the same category.
Katushabe attributed his victory to the quality of consultancy work provided by NBK Premier Solutions, emphasizing their focus on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
“The process, which started in January this year, has been a tedious one, with not only having to rely on the 60% votes from the public but also satisfying the panel of judges, whose vote constitutes 40%,” said Katushabe. He noted that excellence, innovation, and impact were key requisites for winning the award, qualities that his company has cultivated over the years.
NBK Premier Solutions Ltd, founded in 2016, specializes in business management and investment consultancy. The company has significantly impacted long-term investments both within and outside Uganda, particularly in helping MSMEs develop proper investment and management strategies. Headquartered in Bugolobi, Kampala, NBK Premier Solutions has collaborated with clients and partners across East Africa, including Kenya.
Katushabe expressed his joy upon receiving the award, stating, “I’m overjoyed with this award because, for me, it is a reminder that whatever we do, the world is listening and is aware. This award is also a propeller for us to put in more work to impact the world.”
He emphasized that the recognition serves as a motivation to continue striving for excellence and making a positive impact.
In addition to the award, FOYA winners are integrated into a network of founders across Africa, offering significant opportunities for networking and cross-border collaboration. This accolade further solidifies Katushabe's position as a leading figure in the business and investment consultancy sector in East Africa.
In the same category, Trizah Kainika from Kenya emerged as the second runner-up, while Uganda's Catherine Kabarangira secured second place. The recognition of these individuals highlights the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and the significant contributions of young founders in the region.
