Following a dismal performance in the first half of the season, the tax collectors are strengthening the team ahead of the second half of the season.
URA FC only managed to collect 14 points from 14 matches and is languishing mid-table in the eleventh position. Muhumuza joins as assistant coach deputizing Sam Timbe.
“We would like to announce that Fred Muhumuza has joined our Technical staff as assistant coach on a one-year contract. A CAF B graduate and Famaco 1 holder, Muhumuza also holds a Certificate in sports administration that was issued by the Uganda Olympic Committee”, part of the statement reads.
Muhumuza replaces Baker Mbowa who was shown exit by the club recently.
As a player, Muhumuza won the Uganda Cup with Victors FC where he featured as the captain. Most recently, he was awarded by FUFA as the best coach in the FUFA Drum competition despite losing in the semi-finals.
In the January transfer window, URA FC have also let go of striker Derrick Nsibambi who joins the Oman Professional League after just three months at the club.
The club has also announced the signing of Joshua Lubwama from Wakiso Giants.
Lubwama trades as a central midfielder and central defender. He was part of the Uganda Beach Soccer side, Sand Cranes that featured in AFCON beach soccer tournament last year in Mozambique.
