The convict was charged with a four-count charge bordering on sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child, an offence which violated Sections 135 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Justice Soladoye&nbsp;described Igwe Ambrose as a liar, adding that he fingered and touched the breasts of the victims and pretended to be helping them with their school homework.

“The children decided to open up to their mother, who then informed her husband; he thereafter confronted the defendant and the matter was reported to a police station.

“The police visited the scene and the defendant was invited to the police station where he denied the allegations against him.

“The testimonies of the prosecution witnesses (survivors) were credible, as they cannot consent to being fingered by the landlord.

“The defendant was identified as the assailant and their evidences were corroborated by their mother and the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) who visited the crime scene and a clear account of the assault and indecent treatment was confirmed,” NAN quotes&nbsp;Justice Soladoye&nbsp;as saying.

Pronouncing the judgement, the judge said: “Counts one and two carry life imprisonment each; the defendant is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment on each of the count charges.

“In respect to counts three and four which carry seven years jail term, the defendant is hereby sentenced to seven years imprisonment on each of the count charge.

“His name is to be entered in the Sexual Offences Register maintained by Lagos State Government.”

It is reported that Igwe Ambrose committed the offences that caused his life sentence between January and June 2021 at Shagari Estate, Ipaja, Lagos.

Mwenda had been arrested a day earlier by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and interrogated at the headquarters for posing as a lawyer. After many hours of questioning, he was freed on a KSh 100,000 bail from the police and told to appear in court to enter a plea today.

Meanwhile, Mwenda, speaking days after news of him went viral thanked his supporters and assured them that in the fullness of time, he would prove his innocence when he had his day in court.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) had issued a statement, saying Mwenda managed to access its portal illegally, find an account with a name that matched his, alter the information, and submit his photo, all in a bid to enter the legal profession in Kenya.

The LSK said it convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday to initiate an urgent investigation into how Brian Mwenda was able to get past LSK security and take on the persona of a legitimate attorney.

The security breach only got to the attention of LSK after a legitimate lawyer with a similar name, Brian Mwenda Njagi reached out to its secretariat on September 28 to complain about the inability to access the membership portal.

A preliminary investigation by ICT personnel at the LSK blew the cover of Mwenda.

He made a video of himself and Mwenda which was uploaded to social media. He pleaded in the video on behalf of the young brilliant man, saying he would be accompanied by lawyers to turn in himself to any police station to assist with investigations.

Mwenda has been reported to the Kenyan Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following a discovery that he had been masquerading as a lawyer when he did not have a practising license.

Reports say he had managed to beat the system and practised law for years, arguing cases before many judges at various levels of Kenya’s courts before he was recently arrested.

Mike Sonko, in the video, reminded the country’s authorities that Mwenda remains innocent until proven guilty.

Speaking for the first time after his arrest, Mwenda thanked his supporters and assured them that in the fullness of time, he will prove his innocence when he has his day in court.

Following his arrest, <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulselive.co.ke/news/local/how-to-use-the-lsk-portal-to-identify-licensed-practising-lawyers-in-kenya/63h8c17">the Law Society of Kenya (LSK)</a> issued a statement, saying Mwenda managed to access its portal illegally, find an account with a name that matched his, alter the information, and submit his photo, all in a bid to enter the legal profession in Kenya.

A preliminary investigation by ICT personnel at the LSK found that the legitimate lawyer was unable to access his membership site since the information in the system, especially his email address, did not belong to him.

“On the 5th Day of August 2022, Brian Mwenda Ntwiga was admitted to the Bar and his correct email address was captured and an Account opened for him in the Advocates portal.

“We reached out to Advocate Brian Mwenda Ntwiga who confirmed that he had not applied for a practicing certificate since his admission, reason being that he had been working at the Office of the Attorney General and did not require a Practising Certificate.

“It was only until sometime in September 2023 when he attempted to login into the system and activate his profile with the intention of applying for his Practising Certificate that he realized he could not access his LSK Portal.

“The preliminary findings indicate that the masquerader applied the use of a common international fraud scheme known as Business Email Compromise (BEC) where a criminal in this case Brian Mwenda identified a genuine advocate status as being inactive, made contact to the secretariat to make an application for payment of his PC but which he couldn't because his email credentials are incorrect.

“Upon being allowed access to the account, he took control of the portal and changed his profile picture, the workplace and applied and paid for the practicing certificate. However, his application was not processed since he was required to provide documents including the certificate of business incorporation,”&nbsp;the LSK statement said.

The statement added that the Council of the Law Society in Kenya has always been worried by the activities of imposters parading as lawyers, so the matter has been reported to the country’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The LSK maintained that Brian Mwenda must face the rigours of the law despite overwhelming public support for him, with calls for him to be certified to practice the law because he has proven to be even more adept at the legal profession than the trained ones.

Last week, news broke about the handsome young man being arrested for practising law in Kenya and winning all 26 cases he had handled, although he didn’t have the training and license.
