1. "Glass"

What it's about: The sequel to M. Night Shyamalan's breakout "Split" is also a direct sequel to "Unbreakable." "Glass" introduces a mysterious psychiatrist, Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson), who tries to convince Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), David Dunn (Bruce Willis), and Elijah/Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) that they do not have superpowers, and boy is that mistake.

Why to see it: "Glass" is the only January release we're really excited about, because we'll get to see Willis and Jackson reunited. We're ready to see both of them interact with McAvoy who carried "Split" for his standout performance playing over a dozen different personalities.

2. "The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part"

What it's about: Five years after the first film, invaders from outer space capture Lucy (Elizabeth Banks) and it's up to Emmet to leave Bricksburg and save her.

Why we're excited: Both "The LEGO Movie" and its spin-off, "The LEGO Batman Movie," were fantastic. Original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller wrote and produced the sequel. Part of their charm is that the duo don't follow conventional movie-making rules. Look at the title of this movie. Chris Pratt is voicing a character which is a spoof of both his "Jurassic World" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" characters in addition to his main character, Emmet. That's part of what makes most of their movies so fun to watch. (Have you seen "Spider-Verse"? Enough said.)

We're ready to see more of Will Arnett's tiny, egotistical Batman and the return of Jonah Hill's Green Lantern. Jason Momoa is supposed to reprise his role as Aquaman in Lego form, too. We're slightly concerned since the movie was pushed back from a 2018 release , but here's to hoping everything in the sequel is even more awesome.

3. "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World"

What's it's about: The conclusion to the franchise sees Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and his dragon pal Toothless discover a vibrant, hidden dragon world and a group of very bad men try to steal the dragons.

Why it's a must-see: There are two big films for kids coming out in February and fans have been waiting four years for the next adventure of Hiccup and Toothless. The franchise notably champions those with prosthetics, inspiring that no limitation should prevent any one person from accomplishing great things, even ruling a group of Vikings.

Early buzz around the third film is that it's just as good, if not better than, the others . If you can't wait to see Kit Harington on the final season of "Game of Thrones," he reprises his character, Eret, here. You may want to bring some tissues along.

4. "Captain Marvel"

What it's about: Marvel's next superhero movie follows Carol Danvers (Oscar winner Brie Larson) as she's reborn with super powers in the '90s and becomes known as Captain Marvel.

Why we're excited: If you're planning to see the next "Avengers" movie, you'll want to know all about Captain Marvel. Many expect her to show up in "Avengers: Endgame." We're also excited to see Jude Law join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Samuel L. Jackson (he's in this too!), and the return of "Guardians of the Galaxy" villain, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).

5. "Gloria Bell"

What it's about: A divorce (Julianne Moore) spends her nights in the LA club scene. One night she meets Arnold (John Turturro) and the two embark on a romance that becomes challenging once Gloria's family is introduced to the mix.

Why you should see it: A24 has been on a streak with Oscar hits like "Room," "The Florida Project," and "Lady Bird," so we have high expectations for its next spring film, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. It's early yet, but the movie currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with Variety calling it " one of the great female-led films of the 21st century. "

6. "Us"

What it's about: Director Jordan Peele's followup to "Get Out" follows Adlaide (Lupita Nyong'o) who is haunted by a past trauma. While at her vacation home, her family comes face-to-face with doppelgngers of themselves.

Why it's a must-see: The teaser released Christmas Day is one of the creepiest trailers we've ever seen and has us wondering if "Us" is part of a larger cinematic universe Peele has in store. We're game.

7. "Five Feet Apart"

What it's about: Two teens, who are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, fall for one another while receiving treatments in a hospital.

Why we're interested: This one's for the "Riverdale" Cole Sprouse fans. We're also getting serious "The Fault in Our Stars" vibes here. It looks like a sweet tear jerker and we're OK with that.

8. "Pet Sematary"

What it's about: Paramount's remake follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) who moves to the country with his family. They soon discover their new home is near a pet cemetery that's on an ancient burial ground that has the power to bring beings back from the dead.

Why we're interested: "Pet Sematary" is the next big Stephen King remake and after the success of "It," so we're excited to see if this film is as creepy as the first trailer appeared.

9. "The Curse of La Llorona"

What it's about: A mother and her two children get threatened by an evil spirit called La Llorona in 1970s Los Angeles.

Why we're interested: The Warner Bros.' horror movie is more interesting when you know it's based on a Mexican legend of the same name. Translated to "The Weeping Woman," the story is about a mother who drowns her children before throwing herself into a river and dying. That's the spirit which will be haunting the family in the new movie and it looks creepy.

Speaking of creepy, the movie is produced by James Wan, who made "The Conjuring" franchise, in addition to his most recent hit, "Aquaman."

10. "Breakthrough"

What it's about: The Christian drama follows John Smith (Marcel Ruiz) who is rescued after being submerged in a lake for 15 minutes. Doctors believe he'll never awake from a coma after he shows no pulse.

Why we're interested: The film is based on a true story of a boy who wakes up from a coma after basically being declared dead. Plus, the film stars some of our favorite actors, such as "This Is Us'" star Chrissy Metz and Mike Colter from "Luke Cage."

11. "Avengers: Endgame"

What it's about: The "Avengers: Infinity War" sequel will follow the remaining superheroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, and Ant-Man, as they deal with the fallout from Thanos' life-altering snap which decimated half of the universe .

Why you should see it: "Endgame" is set to be the movie event of the summer. If you were among the many fans left in stunned silence at the end of "Infinity War," you're going to want to see how Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and the rest of the Avengers gang get themselves out of this conundrum, especially since we know Spidey is at least coming back in some way for his own sequel later this year.

12. "Detective Pikachu"

What it's about: The first live-action Pokmon movie stars Pikachu as a detective trying to find out what happened to his missing partner Harry Goodman. He teams up with Goodman's son, Tim (Justice Smith), to get to find out what happened to him.

Why we're interested: We were a little unsure what to make of the initial trailer for Warner Bros.' live-action Pokmon movie (Jigglypuff doesn't have fur!), but we've warmed up to the look of Pikachu. Plus, it's kind of funny seeing the man who voiced Deadpool providing the voice for a cuddly Pokmon.

13. "John Wick: Chapter 3"

What it's about: After breaking the rules of a criminal underground hotel, a$14 million contract is on John Wick's (Keanu Reeves) head after as he attempts to make his way out of New York City alive with the help from some friends, and maybe a dog.

Why we're interested: Who thought a franchise built around the murder of an assassin's puppy would keep us coming back for more? Halle Berry and "Gotham's" Robin Lord Taylor are joining the mix this time and we can't wait to watch Reeves kick, shoot, and run his way out of this one.

And if you're coming for the body count, director Chad Stahelski told Entertainment Weekly it should be higher than the second film .

14. "BrightBurn"

What it's about: The sci-fi horror film follows an alien who lands on Earth and is raised by a couple. Unlike the famous Clark Kent/Superman story though, the young boy succumbs to a darkness inside of him and begins to use his powers for evil.

Why you should care: "BrightBurn" is the movie "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn was excited to promote at San Diego Comic-Con last summer, but he bowed out last minute after Disney let him go from the "GOTG" franchise amid the resurfacing of some old, controversial tweets .

While it's not directed by him, Gunn does produce "BrightBurn" and the script is written by two of his brothers. It definitely has us interested for its similarities to Clark Kent's upbringing and the "what if" possibility of what could have gone wrong with the hero in a worst-case scenario.

15. "Rocketman"

What it's about: Centered around Sir Elton John's early years, star Taron Egerton has insisted "Rocketman" is not a biopic, describing it instead as a "fantasy musical."

Why we're interested: The "Kingsman" breakout definitely has the look down. Sir Elton John seemed to give the star his blessing by giving him some advice for the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, John challenged Egerton not to impersonate his singing style, but to embody his character.

The film also stars Bryce Dallas Howard and, now, Golden Globe winner Richard Madden ("Game of Thrones").

16. "Godzilla: King of the Monsters"

What it's about: After the 2014 film, Godzilla is back and will go up against some other legendary monsters, including Mothra, Rodan, and three-headed King Ghidorah.

Why we're interested: The long-awaited sequel to 2014's "Godzilla" also takes place in the same universe as "Kong: Skull Island." A sequel starring the two goliaths is planned for a 2020 release. This film will undoubtedly set up the showdown that's expected between Godzilla and King Kong.

If all of that doesn't excite you, the film also stars Millie Bobby Brown from "Stranger Things."

17. "Men in Black: International"

What it's about : Tessa Thompson's agent Em is on the hunt for a mole inside the "Men in Black" organization.

Why to watch : This isn't a reboot. The new film is a sequel 22 years after the third film. We're excited to see Thompson reunite with "Thor: Ragnarok" star Chris Hemsworth as two "Men in Black" agents. Our fingers are crossed for a Will Smith cameo.

18. "Toy Story 4"

What it's about: The fourth movie in the franchise will follow Woody and the rest of the toys as they welcome some new friends who join their new owner's room. Among them is a fork who insists he's not a toy.

Why we're interested: After multiple delays , we're wondering if the "Toy Story 4" we'll see this summer is the same one the former Disney Animation and Pixar chief creative officer, John Lasseter, originally had in mind.

In 2015, Lasseter originally said the story was inspired by his wife and that the movie would be a love story between Woody his former flame, Bo Peep . Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear, said the film is so emotional that he had a tough time getting through the final scene. We're ready to bust out the tissues.

19. "Spider-Man: Far From Home"

What it's about: All we know is that the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel will show Peter Parker alive and well, most likely after the events of "Avengers: Infinity War" as he heads to Europe for a vacation. He'll reportedly team up with usual Spider-Man foe Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) to take down some baddies. Footage for the film was shown at Comic Con Experience Brazil in December.

Why it's a must-see: Audiences fell in love with Tom Holland's take on the web-slinger and after the end of "Avengers: Infinity War," we need to know what's next for Spider-Man. We'll probably get an answer in "Avengers: Endgame," but we're also hyped to see Jake Gyllenhaal's enthusiastic take on the role of villain Mysterio .

Holland told fans at CCXP Brazil that he thought the sequel was better than the original. We're game. Until we get a trailer, catch up on Gyllenhaal's playful teases of his Spidey villain on Instagram here .

20. "The Lion King"

What it's about: The CG reimagining of the beloved animated movie follows young cub Simba who runs away at a young age, but eventually must decide whether or not to take back his kingdom from his Uncle Scar, whose leadership threatens to unravel the pride lands.

Why we're excited: The first teaser trailer looks like a near recreation of the opening of the 1994 movie. The movie is being directed by Jon Favreau who brought the live-action version of "The Jungle Book" to the big screen.

If the trailer didn't hit you right in the feels, the star-studded cast of Beyonc, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and Chiwetel Ejiofor should get you excited. Plus, James Earl Jones is reprising his role as Mufasa. Get ready to cry all over again.

21. "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood"

What it's about: Quentin Tarantino's ninth movie is a mystery crime about the Manson Family murders.

Why we're interested: This one's all about the star power. If you put Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, and more together in a movie, you're likely to watch what happens. If you're a Quentin Tarantino stan, the director has said he will only make 10 movies. If so, this will be his penultimate.

22. "Hobbs & Shaw"

What it's about: We don't have an official plot for the film, but the "Fast and Furious" spin-off will see Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) and Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) reunite. What we do know is that Idris Elba was cast in the movie to play a villain named Brixton, while Vanessa Kirby ("The Crown") will play Shaw's sister.

Why it's a must-see: We've been waiting for the Hobbes and Shaw spin-off ever since the duo's prison fight scene in "The Fate of the Furious." After being a main villain of the "Fast" franchise, Shaw redeemed himself when he saved Dominic Toretto's newborn on a plane from criminals.Now, the unlikely partners look like they're teaming up to take down Elba's bad guy. Sign us up.

23. "It: Chapter 2"

What it's about: The sequel to the 2017 horror hit will pick up 27 years after the events of the first film with the members of the Loser Club brought back together to rid of Pennywise from Derry, Maine once and for all.

Why it's a must-see: Warner Bros. made red balloons and clowns terrifying again so we're excited to see how Stephen King's 1,000-page novel is wrapped up. This time around, it won't just be the cast of kids reprising their roles as the members of the club. James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, and Isaiah Mustafa are among the new cast who will play the kids all grown-up . Of course, Bill Skarsgard will be back as the terrifying clown.

24. "Downton Abbey"

What it's about: The Focus Features movie will be a continuation of the TV show that ended in 2015 with the entire main cast.

Why we're interested: Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Maggie Smith, and Elizabeth McGovern will all reprise their characters in the film. Series creator, Julian Fellowes, wrote the screenplay for the movie.

25. "Joker"

What it's about: "It" won't be Warner Bros.' only clown movie out next fall. Todd Phillips is directing a DC origin spin-off centered around Batman's greatest nemesis, The Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix.

Why we're intrigued: While we don't know if the new Clown Prince of Crime will live up to Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning performance in "The Dark Knight," we're willing to give Phoenix a chance as the jokester. This film is interesting, though, because it appears to be set long before Bruce Wayne ever becomes the Caped Crusader as Phoenix's Joker has some beef with Wayne's father, Thomas.

Zazie Beetz ("Deadpool 2," "Atlanta") will also play a central role in the film.

26. "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood"

What it's about: Sony's drama is inspired by Esquire's 2017 article "Can You Say... Hero?" by journalist Tom Junod (Matthew Rhys) and the friendship he formed with Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks) as he was assigned a profile of the host of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood."

Why to see it: America's favorite dad, Tom Hanks, will be playing America's favorite neighbor. Any questions ?

27. "Zombieland 2"

What it's about: The sequel will reportedly follow the original cast years later as they come across "super zombies" that are stronger than the original ones they fought off.

Why we're interested: The sequel is just in time for the first film's 10th anniversary with Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin reprising their main roles. Also back is original director Ruben Fleischer and the screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who went on to write the "Deadpool" films.

28. "Frozen 2"

What it's about: Disney Animation may not have given out an official synopsis yet, but its preview for 2019 hinted that Arendelle "heats up." Original cast Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad will reprise their roles as Anna, Elsa, and Olaf, respectively.

Why we're interested: While the last "Frozen" short caused some backlash from fans, the sequel is in good hands with returning directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and the Oscar-winning songwriting team of husband and wife Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who are writing new songs about the sisters .

29. "Cats"

What it's about: Universal Pictures has yet to release an official synopsis, but the movie will be an adaptation of the Broadway show which follows a tribe of cats who argue over who should, essentially, ascend to Heaven.

Why we're intrigued: The Broadway show is just a series of cats introducing themselves, but the cast of this film is way too large to ignore. It stars Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Judi Dench, and Sir Ian McKellen all as furry felines. Tell us you're not interested to see McKellen dressed as a giant cat.

30. "Star Wars: Episode IX"

What it's about: Disney and Lucasfilm haven't released an official synopsis yet for the ninth "Star Wars" movie, but we know it will serve as a proper end to the Skywalker storyline. Plan to see more of Carrie Fisher's General Leia through previously unused footage.

Why you should see it: If you were a fan of "The Force Awakens," director J.J. Abrams is back in the director's chair for "Episode IX ." No matter your feelings over "The Last Jedi," our fingers are crossed for a satisfying conclusion to the new trilogy.
