'Can I watch Quibi on my TV?': No, Quibi is a mobile-only platform — here's what you need to know

You can't watch Quibi on a smart TV, Google Chromecast, or any other device that isn't a mobile device.

Joining competitors like Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, CBS All Access, and a long list of others, Quibi is the latest subscription-based video streaming service to arrive on your phone.

But unlike other streaming services, Quibi is designed with short form, "snackable" video in mind. In fact, that's where the name comes from it's meant as a mash-up of the words "quick" and "bite," which suggests how you're supposed to consume Quibi video, on your phone while on the go.

And because that's the concept behind the service, TV is not currently an option.

Quibi has released apps for both iPhone and Android devices, which you can install on your phone or tablet. You can find download links for your mobile device at the Quibi website , or through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Currently, you can get a 14-day free trial when you sign up for Quibi, and the service is $4.99 per month thereafter.

Because the service was originally intended to comprise short, snackable content you watched on the go, Quibi wasn't designed to be installed on smart TVs, nor can it be "cast" to televisions using Chromecast.

That might change, though, if consumer viewing behavior continues to be impacted by the coronavirus pandemic for an extended period of time. But for now, it's iOS and Android only.
