The primary objective of the British Chamber of Commerce Uganda is to foster improved trade relations between the UK and Uganda, with a focus on increasing trade and investment. During the launch, H.E. Kate Airey OBE, the British High Commissioner to Uganda, highlighted the importance of the new chamber in the current economic climate.

As the economy and investment environment becomes more difficult, there is a need to strengthen our community in order to succeed. Therefore, I am delighted to launch the British Chamber of Commerce Uganda as a platform to strengthen the trade and investment relationship between the UK and Uganda,” Airey stated.

The High Commissioner emphasized the role of the BCCU in supporting UK businesses of all sizes operating in Uganda. She pointed out that the chamber will offer its members exclusive benefits, such as connections to government and private sector organizations in both countries, invitations to networking events, and access to trade delegations supported by the chamber.

The British Chamber of Commerce Uganda joins a network of similar chambers operating in other African countries, dedicated to helping UK businesses prosper. This initiative is expected to create a robust support system for businesses, enhancing trade links and fostering economic growth.

The event concluded on a high note with a live performance by renowned guitarist Myko Ouma and his band, who entertained the guests with timeless music pieces, adding a memorable musical element to the evening.
