The new airline, Khartoum-based BADR Airlines, was introduced over the weekend on the backdrop of its maiden landing at Entebbe on Friday at 2:30 pm. The airlines will operate a single flight every week but this is expected to change to twice a week in April.
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCCA) has licensed another player in the aviation industry to operate the Entebbe-Juba-Khartoum route on a weekly basis.

The occasion was attended by envoys to Kampala, Simon Deng (South Sudan), Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed (Sudan), and officials from the aviation authorities of Uganda, South Sudan, and Sudan.
The move was lauded by UCAA Director for Airports and Security Haji Ayub Soma, saying that it has further deepened the cordial relations among the three countries. He also said that air transport remains the safest mode of transport in the region due to the volatility in some parts.
Ambassador Deng said that this new development will hopefully improve the movement of people and goods which is a prerequisite for growth and development.
Soma assured the new airline of high safety, security standards, and quality facilitation “that meets expectations of good travelers’ experience.”
Ambassador Ibrahim Ahmed said that he hopes this will boost the trade and investment between Uganda and Sudan which has stalled at less than $100 million annually.
BADR Airlines currently runs fourteen routes across the world, including direct flights to Qatar and Heathrow, London.
