Uganda Airlines expands reach to Zambia, Zimbabwe with new routes

Before take-off in Entebbe, Uganda's High Commissioner to Zambia, Ambassador Col. (rtd.) Fred Mwesigye, accompanied by Ambassador Richard Kabonero, Head of Regional Economic Cooperation, highlighted that the new routes symbolise historical ties among Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. “It is my hope that improved air connectivity between our countries will support a vibrant travel market that facilitates better business, trade and tourism linkages between Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe," he said.

Zambia’s Minister Tayali welcomed the flights from Entebbe, calling them a pivotal milestone for Zambian aviation. He reaffirmed that Uganda is a strategic partner in fostering economic development, trade, and investment opportunities between the nations.

At Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, High Commissioners Paul Amoru (Uganda) and Winpeg Moyo (Zimbabwe) hailed the flight as a step toward boosting ties and fostering regional integration.

“As members of the East African Community and the South African Development Community, Uganda and Zimbabwe are working towards enhanced connectivity that fosters economic growth and development,” said Amb. Moyo.

Uganda Airlines CEO, Jenifer Bamuturaki, highlighted the airline's commitment to providing safe, affordable, and reliable air transport.

“These flights expand travel options between East Africa and Southern Africa and demonstrate our commitment to connect the continent,” she said, adding that the routes will cater to travellers heading to multiple destinations within the airline’s growing network.

The airline will operate the EBB-LUN-HRE route four times weekly.
