The price increment comes out of the general inflation that is affecting the price and cost of many other goods around the country.

This situation has been majorly blamed on the on-going Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary, Ramathan Ggoobi said that the government will not interfere in the inflation since Uganda is a free economy.

We are not going to subsidise anything. Subsidies don’t work and that is bad economics. Those who have done it have faced problems. We have to be careful with the medicine we give. You can’t treat cancer with paracetamol. We have to undergo process of treating cancer. The economy is like a human being. It changes every time. Right now the economy is moody but will be happy soon.” Ggoobi said.

Uganda Breweries turned 75 last year in July and decided to celebrate by rewarding journalists under the theme "Brewed by Uganda". The company allocated 7.5 million Shillings in cash prizes for participants to win in the UBL@75 media competition.

We appreciate the support and commitment of our different stakeholders including consumers, distributors, farmers, suppliers, service providers, communities and government, who have walked with us on this journey for more than seven decades, and we are honored to continue being of service in the coming years.” Uganda Breweries Managing Director Alvin Mbugua said.

Last week on Friday, Henry Nkurunziza was the grand prize winner of the #UBLAt75 giveaway campaign at Sanyu FM where the campaign has been running.

Radio listeners have been winning special hampers from the brewery as part of their 75th anniversary after calling in and answering simple questions about the 75-year journey, UBL products and activities over time.
