“I congratulate and welcome Anne to the East Africa region—an important growth vector in the Group’s business strategy. I am confident that she will succeed in her new mandate—steering the respective country teams to deliver satisfactorily on the set revenue, profitability, and sustainability goals, given her expertise, market networks, and leadership experience,” he said.

Anne Juuko's journey with Standard Bank Group spans over a decade, with her initial role as Head of Global Markets for Stanbic Bank Uganda, before progressing to Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Namibia, and ultimately becoming Chief Executive in 2020. Her tenure as CEO marked her as the first female to lead Uganda's largest commercial lender, steering the bank through challenging times, including the global COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining profitability.

Under Juuko's leadership, Stanbic Bank reported a significant profit after tax increase in 2022 and launched various impactful programs such as the SACCO financing and capacity building initiative and Stanbic4Her. These initiatives have supported thousands of smallholder farmer groups, and women entrepreneurs, and contributed to the growth of the Ugandan economy.

Beyond her banking achievements, Juuko has been a fervent advocate for maternal and neonatal health and has played a pivotal role in the digital financial services expansion through the FlexiPay platform.

As the financial community watches this leadership transition, Anne Juuko's move to a regional role marks a promising step for Standard Bank Group's ambitions in East Africa, reflecting the organization's commitment to leadership excellence and regional growth.
