Patrick Bitature’s wealth is fast becoming a paper tiger, but there are still solid rich people in Uganda whose personal bank accounts would make your jaws drop.

In terms of wealth, we are looking at assets in real estate, particularly commercial buildings, as opposed to money in the bank.

Below are the top seven richest Ugandans alive:

John Bosco Muwonge is the very definition of filthy stinking rich. He owns Namanda, Cooper complex, Cornerstone, Discount Mall, Shamba complex, Shauriyako ggagawala, Namayiba bus terminal, Gwanda mall Kisenyi, Superior complex, New Arua park complex, he has a street in Nabugabo, and has over 40 construction sites in Kampala, plus over 400 acres of land in Kisenyi area. His net worth is estimated at $1.8 billion.

His Ruparelia Group of Companies is home to over 18 companies with interests in hospitality, real estate, finance, media, insurance, education, agriculture, labour export among others.

Although his portfolio is packed with real estate, Sudhir has continued to invest in upscale accommodations and office spaces, as well as commercial buildings in downtown Kampala. His net worth is estimated at $1.2 billion.

Drake Lubega owns Qualicel bus terminal, Totali building, Kikuubo buildings as well as buildings at Nakivubo Blue, Mini Price buildings in downtown Kampala. It is said Lubega builds or buys a new building of not less than $7 million every 6 months – with money he collects from rent.

Drake’s net worth is estimated at $1 billion.

Alykhan Karmali (The Mukwano Family) – His estimated net worth USD 900 Million. Alykhan Karmali is a businessman, entrepreneur, industrialist, and philanthropist with diversified investments in agriculture, manufacturing, transport, food processing, and real estate.

Karim Hirji is a Ugandan businessman, hotel owner and entrepreneur. He is reported to be one of the wealthiest individuals in Uganda, with an estimated net worth of about US$800 million.

Kitandwe Tom owns plenty of real estate including Giant shopping arcade in Kikuubo, Nakasero complex on Nakivubo road, Mid city arcade on Nakivubo road, Mackay Buildings on Old Rashid Kaharmis Road among others. He also has buildings at Arua park, Parkyard, and behind Gazaland. His is reportedly worth 750 million.

It is said that his real estate holdings give him $1 million a month. This tycoon has invested in real estate, agro-processing, education, technology among others. Kiggundu is the CEO of the Ham Group of Companies and is one of the wealthiest persons in Uganda with an estimated net worth of US$700 Million.
