Ssempijja, also known as Jajja Tony is the Coordinator of the Uganda Music Promoters and Venue Owners’ Network.

He says that many Ugandan young artists are using violence to build their names in the same way that the big three – Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone did during their prime.

The new Firebase?

Ssempijja gave the example of people such as Alien Skin, who he said, runs a shadowy ring of hoodlums that carry out violent attacks on people who are unfriendly to him.

This ring, he said, is almost identical to that which was operated by

Bobi Wine under Fire Base back in the day.

I have now heard that the Fangone guy is summoning people to his place to punish them… that he sends his teams to go bring him people who insulted him online and he punishes them,” Ssempijja said.

“That is exactly what used to be Bucham Man’s role at Fire Base where he served as Vice President. Anyone who spoke ill of Bobi Wine, it was the responsibility of Bucha Man to find that person and punish them accordingly.”

The promoter also recalled incidents where Bobi Wine sent out gangs to disrupt Jose Chameleone on stage with firecrackers, and in some instances, physical fights between the two.

Alien Skin and his teams have been involved in several altercations, the most famous of them with Pallaso in May and Andrew Mukasa Bajjo in November of last year.
