All offices will be open to help women in creative sector - Ssekitoleko

Hon Ssekitoleko said this on Friday at the National Theatre during the Business Summit of Women in Film organized by Tassles Films.

The Business Summit was sponsored by Private Sector Foundation (PSFU), GROW Project, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and the World Bank. 

Hon Ssekitoleko who is a board member of PSFU was among the keynote speakers and during her speech, she pledged her full support for the creative Industry. 

She urged the female players in the film Industry to always be organized, form associations, and also let everyone do what they can do best to come out with a good finished product. 

Going forward, I will make sure that all offices welcome creatives with their proposals and whatsoever that they need to get help from any Government offices,” Hon Ssekitoleko said.

The Business Summit was under the theme, ‘Empowering Our Creative through Financial Literacy’ and while speaking about it, Hon Ssekitoleko warned the creative on small brown envelopes because it is not money enough to build a project but rather when you form an association as Filmmakers, it is more than just a brown envelope and rather enough funding to take the project to the next level.

The Women in Creative Industry will benefit from the recently launched GROW project. 

The project which in full is known as Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises Project.

It was launched in January 2023 by Private Sector Foundation and it will support women Entrepreneurs across Uganda. The project received funding of USD217 million from World Bank and will run until December 31st 2027.
