Wine recently ruffled the feathers of artistes when he berated them during Kato Lubwama's burial, citing scheming in the Uganda National Musicians Federation, which is headed by Kenzo.
Some musicians didn't like the tone Wine used while addressing them.
On Thursday night, Eddy Kenzo took to social media to respond cryptically respond to Wine who had earlier called them beggars.
He said the Federation is about fighting for rights of musicians and pushing for a law that will see them earn from their royalties.
Kenzo concluded his statement: "We are fighting for copyright and all rights for musicians ate mwe muwoza beggars, beggars how?"
On Friday, June 16, he tweeted again: "Our fight for inclusive laws protecting our Job is as constitutional as all salaries paid to all politicians by government, as the medical insurance government pays for their families, as their foreign trips paid by government, as the cars and fuel given to them by the same government, as all allowances they receive from government, as constitutional as the 3+ Billion given to the opposition leader annually. Our fight is constitutional."
In his speech at Lubwama's burial, Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu advised Ugandan artists to renounce their loyalty to him and ask the government in return to pass the Copyright law.
He said the law, which the government is currently sitting on is extremely important for the development of the arts and entertainment industry in Uganda.
“You need to come together and tell government that ‘if you want us to hate Kyagulanyi, our fellow artist, you pass this law.’ That is the only way you will be helped,” he advised.
In July 2022, Parliament granted leave to Mawokota North M.P. Hilary Kiyaga, a.k.a. Dr. Hilderman, to draft the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Amendment Bill.
However, according to Bobi Wine, the government along the way, hijacked the bill from Hilderman and has since sat with it.
The tweet sent out by Kenzo got artistes out of the woodwork, with some siding with Bobi Wine and other siding with Kenzo.
Alien Skin noted that he had earlier told musicians that they'll never unite.
