Angella Summer voted 2022 'African social star' in People's Choice Awards

TikToker, model and dancer Angella Summer Namubiru has been announced as the winner of the People’s Choice Awards under the category of African Social Star of 2022.

She was competing with top African stars, namely: Ama Qamata, Dr. Shauwn Mkhize, Juddyda Conceicao, Khanyi Mbau, Liquorose, Sphokuhle, and Swanky Jerry.

The People’s Choice Awards is an American awards show that recognises people in the entertainment world, looking at movies, TV, music and pop culture.

The awards have been held annually since 1975 and this year the ceremony will be on December 7.

Voting started on October 26 and ended on November 9.

"Ohhhh my God🤭🥹 Am I dreaming 😳someone should pinch me🙏🏿" Namubiru shared the news on her Instagram, where she has over 179000 followers.

"Well done my dear friend ✨so well deserved ✨ very happy for you and us all," reads a comment on the post.

Reads another comment: “Yessss very well deserved for all your hard work and charity 🙌🏻"

Another commenter said: "Haha congrats, big win🔥🔥 we proud of you🔥🔥"

Namubiru, who is also a musician, is one of the most followed Ugandans on TikTok, with over 5.7 million followers.

She is the co-founder of Blacare, an organization that is both a physical and virtual village that works with children and women on social issues.

She wants to use social media tools to change how Africans are viewed globally.

She also used to sing under a dancing and singing group called City Rock Entertainment. TV presenter Remmah Nakitto, alias Precious Remmie, has been in the group, too.

The group, which was founded in 2009, is comprised of both men and women.
