Awilo Longomba rehearses with Afrigo ahead of highly billed “Legends of Sound” concert

Acclaimed Congolese Afro-pop star Awilo Longomba has promised an exceptional concert experience at the upcoming “Legends of Sound” concert in Kampala in August.

Awilo is in town to prepare for the concert slated for August 5th at the Kampala Sheraton Gardens, where he will be sharing the stage with Uganda’s famous Afrigo Band.

He told press on Saturday, June 17; "I am very excited to be associated with the Afrigo band. Afrigo band was and is still the best and biggest band in Uganda. The fusion of the kind of music they do makes me more attracted to Afriqo.”

Awilo said the audience should expect a special fusion with the Afrigo band.

The France-based Lingala legend jetted in recently and has been doing intensive rehearsal sessions with Afrigo.

Organized by Talent Africa, the Legends of Sound concert (the first of its kind) will be celebrating Afrigo band’s 48-year journey.

The showrunners have promised an electrifying performance and an unforgettable night of music and entertainment.

Aly Allibhai, the Talent Africa CEO said the upcoming concert idea was inspired by Afrigo band’s amazing journey and that Awilo, another legendary band, was deemed a perfect fit for headlining.

“It feels great to have a pan-African collaboration, we are super happy to have this kind of arrangement. It's gonna be a premium experience like never before, revelers will have a great experience to feel the real sound and have an interaction with the legends themselves,” he said.

The band members also promised to put up the best show that they have ever held.

“We believe that working with Talent Africa will make this anniversary better than any other event. Afrigo means, Africa, go to the world musically, and I guess you can see the reason we partnered with Talent Africa,” said the band lead Moses Matovu

“All Ugandan artists must know that music is not a joke and they should take it seriously, and another thing, they should be disciplined so as to be able to prosper musically,” Joanita Kawalya.

In addition to the electrifying performances, guests can look forward to a state-of-the-art production, stunning visuals, and superior sound quality.

Talent Africa has also curated premium experiences for those seeking an elevated level of enjoyment throughout the event.

Tickets for Legends of Sound - Afrigo at 48 are available starting today, Monday June 19 at tagticketing.com. Gold tables of 8 are priced at 5 Million Ugandan Shillings, while Silver early bird tickets can be purchased at 120,000/= before July 19th and 150,000/= thereafter.
