Come to us if you need our help - Cindy tells Bobi Wine

The President of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) Cindy Sanyu said the association will only support Bobi Wine if he comes to them for help.

The songstress, who professionally goes by Cindy, said that while the music industry respects Wine, it doesn't automatically guarantee him their support.

She said that Wine has never gone to them to ask for support that's why they've also never bothered to look his way.

"If Bobi Wine shows us that he needs us, we are ready to do whatever it takes to back him. But he hasn't approached us," Cindy said in a media interview.

"UMA doesn't go looking for you, if you need our help, you have to look for it. Because an association is structured in a way that it works with its members," she added.

"We can't support a musician who has never shown that he needs us... He has never shown interest in the association for all these years... If he wants UMA's help, I can assure him he will get it. But he is going to come and tell us that he needs our help... we can fight with him if he wants our help."

Ever since he joined politics, Bobi Wine's music career has faced some challenges, including being barred from holding concerts. Some believe if the association added a voice in the campaign to address his challenges, it would help.

Meanwhile, Cindy also noted that while Bobi Wine has risen to become a celebrated artiste, it doesn't make him the best because he played on different grounds than his competitors.

"Bobi Wine has achieved heights more than any artiste in Uganda ever has, according to my angle, you know, but it's not like everyone has been given the same platform as him," she said.

"Because if you want to compete with people, you have to share the same platform... if you are given equal opportunities, then you can tell that you are better."

She added: "But he has actually surpassed the success of any artiste in East Africa..."

However, she noted that Wine, Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool will always carry the tag of the big three because of what they did to transform the industry.
