Damalie returns with thrilling Season 2

The award-winning Ugandan drama series Damalie makes a much-anticipated return for its second season on Pearl Magic Prime. The show will air from 30th September 2024 on Channel 148 for DStv and Channel 303 for GOtv subscribers.

Produced and directed by Doreen Mirembe, who also stars as the titular character, Damalie boasts a talented cast including Denis Kinani as Charles, Ssewanyana Arthur as Glen, Phillip Luswata as Pinto, and Hasifah Nakitende as Isabel. The returning actors are set to reprise their captivating roles, while the storyline promises to be more intense, mysterious, and filled with suspense.

Following the cliffhanger ending of Season 1, where Damalie uncovered her husband Charles’ multiple affairs and his secret son, Season 2 dives deeper into a complex web of power struggles, deception, and betrayal. As Joel, the family friend-turned-son of Charles, steps into the spotlight, the drama escalates when Charles is murdered, leaving viewers in suspense and hungry for more.

Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, affirmed Mnet’s dedication to fostering local talent and providing platforms for Ugandan stories. He commented, “Season 1 of Damalie was a rollercoaster of emotions and intrigue, offering an authentic storyline that resonates with families and individuals. Season 2 is even more thrilling and will keep viewers on the edge. The production team has given this season the best of their creativity to entertain viewers.”

Jamugisa highlighted the impact of Mnet’s investment in the Ugandan film industry, noting the value delivered to DStv and GOtv subscribers through local partnerships.

The continued investment in new local content is part of our hyper-local strategy. It allows Ugandan filmmakers to showcase their work and for local talent to shine on a national stage,” he said. This year alone, Mnet has introduced two new shows, Kampala Crème and Crossroads, and commissioned new seasons for Kampala Crème, Juniors Drama Club, and now Damalie, showcasing a commitment to the growth of local storytelling.

Margaret Mathore, Channel Head East Africa at Mnet, expressed excitement over the second season of Damalie.

We’re bringing Ugandans an even more exhilarating and dramatic second season, doubling the suspense of Season 1,” Mathore said. She stressed the importance of championing Ugandan content on channels like Pearl Magic and Pearl Magic Prime, celebrating local talent and culture.

Season 2 of Damalie will air every Monday to Wednesday at 8:30 pm on Pearl Magic Prime, Channel 148 on DStv, and Channel 303 on GOtv, replacing Beloved. The series promises to deliver an exhilarating viewing experience, with a captivating storyline and talented performances, ensuring viewers are entertained throughout the season.
