Faridah Nakazibwe on splitting with baby daddy, dating Moses Kigongo

But the real world had different plans for her.

Nakazibwe didn’t start dating until she was at university because she was shielded from guys for most of her life.

"Marriage and love are very good things... I'm happy for those that are married. I grew up telling my mum that I will look good in a [wedding] gown and a Gomesi. I had a small waistline. She knew my daughter likes marriage. I would tell her that I will stay with my first husband for the rest of my life until I die. We sire kids and raise them,” she said in an interview.

"But as you know, what a child predicts is not what life usually turns out to be. I grew up clueless about relationships because I was over-protected. They even took me to a girls' school. I never had a relationship until I was at university. I don't even know how it started.” After university, the news anchor met engineer Dan Nankunda, the father of her two daughters.

"My next relationship was with the father of my children whom I met at work. Some things didn't go well. We made mistakes at the beginning,” she said.

"I ended the relationship, not because there was a problem... He liked us. He took care of us. But I sat down and considered everything, looking back on how the relationship started, and I figured this is not it. We sat down and talked though it wasn't easy because [we had] children together.”

She attributed the end of the relationship to a lack of experience on her part.

"I didn't have a lot of experience when I started relationships. We agreed and raised our children"

According to Faridaha Nakazibwe, they have been great co-parents.

Moses Kigongo

In 2015, for six months, the Mwasuze Mutya host dated Al Haji Moses Kigongo, the NRM vice chairman. According to Nakazibwe, that relationship partly contributed to her fame because it was widely reported in the media. It started as he was in the middle of dissolving his marriage to Olive Kigongo, the chief executive officer of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce. They had been together for 25 years.

Nakazibwe said after a while she contemplated what she was going through and decided to end the relationship.

"It happened and I looked at it and ended it... I asked myself, what is this? We reached a point when I got used to the news. But while you become strong, once in a while some things will make you question what you are doing. Behind the news, there are things that made me think... I think it's not a good idea... When you look at the kids, they need attention... It became hard to balance the kids and the relationship," she said. "I looked out for me, what is good for me and I said, it is good to step aside.”

Faridah Nakazibwe has previously said that she didn’t like how he was handling divorce proceedings with his former wife.
