Known by his stage name Yvan Buravan, the singer succumbed to pancreatic cancer on August 17 in India where he was undergoing treatment. He had been there since August 4.
Rwandan R&B singer Yvan Dushime Burabyo was laid to rest on Wednesday at Rusororo cemetery in Gasabo District, Rwanda.

Buravan was the last born in a family of six to Michael Burabyo and Elizabeth Uwikunda.
The singer, who died at the age of 27, could also play instruments and he rose to stardom in 2015 after signing a contract with New Level, a record label that was managing big artistes in Rwanda including, Active Again.
His first hit song was a 2015 collaboration ‘Urwo Ngukunda’ featuring Uncle Austin. But it was his solo project, 'Malaika', that propelled him to fame in 2016.
In 2018, Buravan released his debut album ‘The Love Lab’ after being the first Rwandan musician to win the Prix Decouvertes RFI musical and as part of the winning package, he made a tour to 12 African countries, making it his first tour.
