The former wife of Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata has agreed to send the teenage girl to complete her primary school studies at her school located in Nkoowe in Wakiso district.
The 15-year-old is in P.7.
Nabunya revealed on Wednesday that she had been approached by the family of Nicole (born Emmanuella Musimenta), to help send her back to school.
“The family reached out to me when I was in the US. When I returned, they brought her to me,” Nabunya told reporters.
“She told me she wanted to go back to school but that where she was, she found a lot of difficulty.”
Nicole escaped from her school in Kasese district where she had been sent by well wishers following an ugly incident where was badly assaulted by her friends.
She said she was being harassed by fellow learners and a teacher at the school.
The teenager in a livestream also revealed that she had lost interest in studying because of her poor academic performance, and wanted to try out singing and fashion design.
However, Kulthum revealed that in their recent meeting, Nicole said she was happy to resume studies but in a different school.
“At the other school she had registered for PLE, so she asked if we could get her another school where she can complete the class and go back to the other side to sit her exams.”
As a philanthropist who is already helping scores of other young girls under her foundation, Hajjat Nabunya says she decided to send Nicole to her school in Nkowe.
“She will be fine there,” Nabunya said when asked about the teenager’s safety.
“I don't think she can be bullied there because she’s coming in as a child of the school director. It will be a safe space for her.”
Nabunya started her foundation about two years ago with the late Isma Olaxess Tusubira, to support orphaned girls and young women.
