But he recognizes the damage that has been done to their friendship over the past years.
The two have become estranged since Buchaman, real name Mark Bugembe, crossed to the ruling NRM government, that he does not even know how to contact the NUP leader to ask for forgiveness.
“The bridges have been burnt…” Bucha told BBS TV this weekend in an interview. “I don't even have his number. And you know, you cannot just pick up a phone and get to him. I don't even know which line he is using. I am just waiting for him to call me.”
The ‘Tukumatira’ singer is frustrated with his government job, which he describes as “a kawaani.”
The Presidential Advisor job, he says, pays little to nothing and that he never gets to meet or speak directly with the president.
“I just see him like you in the media; I have written to him many times but I don't know if he sees the messages. I am tired of this situation of advising the president through social media,” he said.
Bucha Man also says he is tired of carrying the president’s burden of supporting young people from different parts of the country, who were promised support from the president but never got it.
“All these youths from different corners of the country come to me asking about the presidential pledges and I have to help them,” he said.
Asked if he would consider joining Bobi Wine’s NUP party, Buchaman said he would do so without hesitation, adding that he never belonged to the NRM in the first place, and that he doesn't even have its card.
