"I don't want to sit around and just do nothing," she said in an interview. "This vacation is long... who knows what's gonna come after... and I had always loved working on the radio. I was not sure if I had what it takes. But I said, you know what, give it a try; let them refuse... go and ask for it"

Kanyomozi went to Capital FM and talked to the programs director

"I walked [into his office] and he was very busy on his computer. There is this young girl walking in... I introduced myself, I said my name is Juliana Kanyomozi. I just finished S.6 and I would like to get a job as a radio presenter."

She was subjected to a voice test and told to wait after two weeks for a response.

"Those two weeks were the longest weeks... because I wasn't sure if they would call me back," she said.

The programs director eventually called her to tell her that she had succeeded.

She started with weekend news which was to help her get used to speaking through the microphone.

"For about a month or two I was doing weekend news," she said.

After that, she was assigned to host the mid-morning show. "I did that for a couple of years; I think about two years or three."

She later moved to the Late Date before the late DJ Ronnie Sempangi did it.

She then switched to the Evening Drive which she co-hosted with Gaetano Kagwa.

"I was on radio for... roughly six years," Juliana Kanyomozi said.

Kanyomozi has also acted in a movie and remains one of the most celebrated singers in Uganda's music industry.
