Tusubira was shot dead on May 6th at his home in Kyanja, as he retired from work in the evening hours.
The assailant shot him multiple times as he was still in the passenger seat of his Toyota Hiace van, commonly known as a Drone. His driver, now under police investigation, escaped unharmed.
But nearly a month after the murder, reports started emerging that some people had come up making claims of ownership on the van.
Hajj Muhammad Kasajja, the father of the late Tusuriba confirmed yesterday, May 31st that people had come up to him asking about the van.
One of them, he said, told him that he had 40% ownership of the vehicle.
However, Ashburg Kato, a close friend of the deceased says he has proof that Tusubira was the sole owner of the van and that he wants to help secure it from police and hand it over to Kasajja.
Kato told reporters that he and Tusubira had acquired their vehicles on the same day. He adds that the vehicles were gifts from a certain UPDF general.
"Both vehicles are brand new, each in the owner’s name. I have paperwork which can prove that Olaxes is the sole owner of the drone, and I know that he had not sold it to anyone,” he said.
Kato affirmed that at any time of Kasajja’s choosing, he is going to escort him to the police to have the drone handed to the family.
