Land title, trips abroad; big prizes await this year’s Miss Tourism winners

The 2023 edition of the pageant is being touted as the biggest so far, with anticipated higher participation and grander prizes up for grabs.

The final contestants representing all sub-regions of Uganda were on Saturday, August 12 unveiled at the Kampala Sheraton.

Ms. Sandra Nguna, the Miss Tourism Uganda spokeswoman revealed that this year’s contest has been made more exciting with greater prizes in store.

The overall queen, she said, will receive a plot of land and a title, on top of a full paid trip to Dubai, courtesy of Uganda Airlines.

The two runners-up meanwhile, will also get fully paid trips to Mombasa, while Miss Popularity, who is voted for online, will win an all-expenses paid trip to Zanzibar.

This year’s Miss Tourism pageant is focusing on the environment.

As such, Ms Nguna says all contestants will be required to partake in tree planting in their respective regions and other environmental activities.

Online voting is already underway on the Miss Tourism Uganda portal.

In the meantime, the contestants are currently staying at the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Center in Entebbe where they will undergo training in different aspects including the environment, finances, insurance, and beauty among others.

Thereafter, there shall be a talent night in Adjumani district where some of the contenders will be eliminated.

The grand finale, where the winners will be announced is slated for September 9, 2023 at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.

The reigning Miss Tourism Uganda is Ms Sydney Nabulya Kavuma.
