In 2022, Kayondo took to her WhatsApp status to rant about Mbuga, calling him a fool with no sense of direction.

Leila Kayondo was asked if she could be the reason S.K. Mbuga is always having marital issues with his wife, Jalia Vivienne Chebet.
"Who is that?" Kayondo asked in reference to Chebet.
"... You mean he is married! Can't believe that that man didn't invite me to his wedding," she said.
"He is bad-mannered and I'm here claiming he is my friend."

S.K. Mbuga and singer Leila Kayondo broke up in 2016 after she accused him of domestic violence.
Mbuga and Jalia Vivienne Chebet married in a lavish wedding in 2016 and they have three kids together.
Mbuga has occasionally been accused of domestic violence and cheating on her.
At some point, there were rumours that the couple was planning a divorce but Chebet said those were concocted stories.
