A number of musicians have tried politics.

Some have succeeded and others have miserably failed.

One of the musicians that had really bad luck with politics is Ronald Mayinja.

Mayinja, who is currently in London, U.K. at one time wanted to run for Member of Parliament, but he kept crisscrossing political parties and made some decisions that sank him financially.

Reports indicate that he lost his hotel called Roma Motel, located along Entebbe Road to loan sharks.

The house he was living in has also been rented out.

Ronald Mayinja said he had gone to check on his wife, Aisha Nakyeyune, and children and he will return soon. But some people that know him have said he may not return soon.

Rachel Magola

Popular for her hit song Obangaina, Rachael Magoola is the Bugweri Woman Member of Parliament. 

Magoola, who once sang under Afrigo Band, was the National Resistance Movement (N.R.M) flagbearer in the 2021 elections.

Kato Lubwama

Kato Lubwama, who was announced dead today, June 7, represented Rubaga South Constituency in Parliament from 2016 to 2021.

He was a drama actor, musician, songwriter, comedian, former radio presenter and businessman.

Born in 1970, Lubwama owned Royal Theater, which he started in 2010; Diamonds Ensemble, which he started in 1994; Image Africa, which he started in 1999; and B24TV.

Godfrey Lutaaya

He is the current Member of Parliament for Kakuuto in Rakai district. Godfrey Lutaaya is also the founder of DE New Eagles Band Group. He is married to fellow singer Irene Namatovu

Bobi Wine

He became an M.P. in 2017 after winning a by-election to represent Kyadondo County East constituency. In 2021, he joined the presidential race under the National Unity Platform.

Judith Babirye

Popular for songs like Beera Nange, Wambatira and Eno Mbaga, Judith Babirye served as the elected Member of Parliament representing Buikwe District Women Constituency in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021).

Muhammad Nsereko

In a recent interview, Bobi Wine revealed that he used to sing with Nsereko.

He has represented the Kampala Central Division constituency in parliament since 2011.

Dr. Hilderman

Hillary Kiyaga, alias Dr. Hilderman, is the current M.P. for Mawokota North constituency, having beaten former minister Amelia Kyambadde in the 2021 elections.
