Nina Roz avoids clarifying Kenzo’s claims about receiving Federation cash

Nina Roz remained evasive during her appearance on Sanyuka TV when asked to address claims by Eddy Kenzo that she received money from the SACCO managed by the Uganda National Musicians Federation, where she once served as the head of the disciplinary committee, with Kenzo as president.

When questioned about the alleged payments, Nina Roz offered a vague response: "Ask him what he was giving me the money for... I’m one of the founders of the federation, and our mission was to fight for copyright and organise our industry. When that mission faltered, I decided to return to school," she explained, without directly addressing whether she received the funds.

"I don't want to talk much about the rest."

Pressed further by the interviewer, Brian Wako, she simply added, "If that's what he said, let it be like that. I can't change anything."

Last week, Eddy Kenzo confirmed in a media interview that Nina Roz was among the artists who received and signed for cash from the federation's SACCO.

Kenzo, the Byansi hitmaker, suggested that since Roz is eyeing a political office, she might be distancing herself from the federation to gain favour with the public.

Nina Roz has openly aligned herself with Bobi Wine (real name Robert Kyagulanyi), the president of the National Unity Platform. Wine has been a vocal critic of the federation, describing it as a government tool designed to reduce musicians to beggars and divert their attention from opposing the government.

At one point, Bobi Wine engaged in a public feud with musicians affiliated with the federation, with the most vocal critics being Kenzo and Bebe Cool. Recently, Wine stated that he no longer wishes to discuss the federation, as his intentions were misunderstood by many artists.
