Nince Henry talks musicians he helped launch careers, working with Juliana

Nince Henry is one of the few songwriters that has written songs that launched the careers of many celebrated singers.

Juliana Kanyomozi, Nince Henry and Rema Namakula

These include Oli Wange, which helped Rema Namakula become a star after leaving Bebe Cool's Gagamel Crew and Bankuza brought Chosen Becky into the limelight in 2019.

For Maureen Kabasita, he wrote Kasengejja; Ekikunyumira or Julie Mutesasira and Omukwano Gunyuma for Samalie Matovu.

He wrote songs that launched the careers of Evelyn Lagu and Diana Nalubega.

In 2009, Juliana Kanyomozi wanted to release an album and she felt Nince Henry, who already had a track record of penning hits, was the right man.

Kanyomozi and her manager Eddie Ndaula met Henry and he wrote for them the first two songs Sikyakaba and Kanelage.

When he asked for payment, Juliana told him to wait since they were working on an album. The money would come in time. He never got it. He had valued each song at Shs500k.

Meanwhile, after completing the songs, Henry suggested to her that they use two producers because they had different beats. He suggested one be produced by Henry Kiwuwa and another by Paddy Man.

He had worked with both producers and knew that Paddy would be good for the Afrobeat jam, while Kiwuwa would do his best with the ballad.

It's Paddy who produced Omukwano Gunyuma by Samalie.

Kanyomozi disagreed and Paddy Man produced the song Henry didn't want him to. When it came out, even Ndaula, according to Henry who was speaking to Ibrah Mukasa, didn't like it.

The song Paddy worked on was Sikyakaba. Henry advised that Juliana redoes it with Henry Kiwuwa and she agreed but stopped picking up his calls.

Nince Henry started hatching plans for singing, so he called a meeting between him, Juliana and her manager.

At the meeting, Kanyomozi returned the songs and told him that she was dealing with some problems that required postponing the project.

So, henry went to the studio and released Cindarella, which was an improved version of Sikyakaba. Then someone dropped the version Juliana had done with Paddy and rumours started spreading that she had stolen his song.

Up to now, Nince Henry believes someone else, not Juliana Kanyomozi, release the song. They have both said they have no issues with each other.
