Murphy, a well-known and wealthy actor with Hollywood handsome looks, immediately appealed to Seiuli and so she jumped right into his car for a paid night dancing between the sheets.
Before he could unzip his trousers, however, Murphy’s car was quickly pulled over by police.
Murphy was let go after managing to convince the cops that he was just "being a good Samaritan" by "offering Shalimar a ride".
Seiuli however was arrested for an outstanding warrant on prostitution charges. However, Murphy didn’t get off scot-free since the next morning, the story made international headlines.
The tabloid The National Enquirer reportedly paid Shalimar's fifteen thousand dollar bond in exchange for details on her arrest.
“It’s unfair I went to jail while Eddie Murphy walked away scot-free,” she told the National Enquirer.
Murphy, who has had accusations of being gay swirling around him for years, denied that he intended to solicit a sex worker and denied knowing Seiuli was a "male prostitute."
However, People magazine questioned Murphy's account of events since "when stopped, he was some distance past Seiuli’s reported residence, and there was no apparent reason for the actor to be in that area at that time other than soliciting sex."
Murphy, to scotch the scandal, hired Hollywood private eye Paul Barresi.
Then, Seiuli claimed that she started receiving death threats because she refused to change her story and about her encounter with Murphy.
Meanwhile, thanks to this encounter with Murphy, she got several gigs in porn movies and left prostitution to become the House Madame of the nightclub, 7969, where she reportedly had sex with snakes!
The lady was on a roll, her career was on an upward trend towards her own shot at celebrity.
Then, the cruel hand of fate struck.
On April 22, 1998, barely one year after her rise to public notoriety, Shalimar's dead body, dressed only in her bra, panties and a towel, was found on the pavement outside of her apartment building by her neighbor.
The police investigation pointed to the theory that Seiuli suffered an accidental fall from the fifth story of her building, after accidentally locking herself out of her apartment.
Through access to the roof, she attempted to use her robe as a rope to swing from the roof to an open window but was unsuccessful; falling five floors to her death.
The unusual nature of her death led many to believe that Shalimar’s death was organised by Eddie Murphy.
It was rumoured that Shalimar was writing a tell-all book about her sexual experience with Eddie Murphy and Murphy allegedly decided that she had to be silenced. Also, she was threatening to sue Murphy for $1.2 million.
