In her marriage with renowned journalist Canary Mugume, Ferguson, real names Fiona Nagirinya, says she has made it a point to keep as much information about their lives hidden from the public as possible.

The former television personality warns that sharing too many details about one’s love life, their activities and places they hang out from, could put young relationships in great peril, as it might open the window for “enemies.”

The enemy cannot fight what they really don’t know. Let them know that we are together, we are happy, we are a beautiful couple but I am not feeding them a lot about my life,” she said in a recent interview.

What if I am somewhere, maybe in a restaurant and I keep on posting and tagging the places and then someone comes up with a fake story that ‘We saw Sasha here with a guy,’ and in my posts it shows that I was indeed in that place?” You are feeding the bad energy yet you yourself are not very strong enough to deal with that fire,” she advises.

Now 27 years old, Ferguson says she made the decision to live a private life back when she was only 20. By then she had been in the limelight as a teenage TV presenter for about 5 years.

Tapping from her own experience, she recalls how tabloids used to make up sexualized content about her, even when she was a teenager.

Recently, I was looking through my old stuff and found a newspaper where I was around 19 years old and it said “Sasha in a love scandal!” I was so freaked out. Imagine now, my child growing up to this. That is why I decided I didn’t want that life.”

Her husband however, she says, is the opposite of her... craving all the time to be in the media.

And being that she couldn’t talk him out of it, she says, she’s resorted to keeping her own live private.

I respect my partner’s decision because he has a life away from mine. What he wants is a a life that keeps him in the media, so you have to respect it and just control your end.”

Ferguson and Canary Mugume got married in September 2021 at Miracle Centre Cathedral. They have one child.
