Tamale Mirundi Jr. has announced his plans to organise a memorial service for his late father, Joseph Tamale Mirundi. In his first public remarks since his father’s passing, Mirundi Jr. shared his intentions to honour his father's legacy and to hold a mass that would bring together family, friends, and well-wishers.

The announcement follows a period of family tensions, which recently escalated over a disagreement regarding his father's legacy and family conduct.

In a YouTube interview, Mirundi Jr. expressed gratitude to those who supported him during the difficult time of his father’s death.

“I thank all the people who showed me love when my dad passed away. There are people who called me and those who offered me guidance,” he said.

He went on to reflect on his father’s teachings, highlighting how his father instilled in him values of love and resilience.

“My father always told me to love my siblings and to love all people. When he died, it was a tough time for me, but I am grateful that he had taught me how to handle tough situations,” he added.

Mirundi Jr. also touched on the personal growth and responsibility he now faces in the absence of his father.

He spoke about how his father had protected him from many challenges and how he is now learning to navigate life on his own.

“Now he’s gone, I have to take care of myself. I am starting to understand some of the things, and that is why I am organising a memorial service for my father,” he explained.

According to him, the memorial mass will serve as an opportunity to remember his father’s achievements and to pray for his soul.

The memorial service announcement comes amidst a family dispute that has garnered public attention. Mirundi Jr. had recently clashed with his father’s family over their decision to seek an apology from the Kingdom of Buganda, something his father had explicitly opposed.

The disagreement reached its peak when Mirundi Jr. refused to apologise during a family meeting, leading to his dramatic exit, during which a family member reportedly threw objects at him.

The conflict stems from Mirundi Jr.'s stance against apologising to the Kingdom of Buganda for past tensions caused by his father. He maintained that his father’s wish was for the family to stand firm and not seek forgiveness from the Kingdom.
