“When the youthful ego in him decays, he will understand the issue properly. I will continue playing my role as a mother on top of what I've already done,” she said during a media interview.
Mirundi Junior’s mother believes that his recent behaviour is due to his age and that he will eventually mature.

“A child never grows among family members, and I always call him to offer advice. I tell him, ‘That's wrong, Junior. Calm down. What you've said is wrong.’ And he has always listened to me most of the time, though sometimes he gets agitated, and we fight.”
Recently, Mirundi Junior was excommunicated from the family after opposing their decision to apologise to the Buganda Kingdom following the passing of the family head, Joseph Tamale Mirundi. Junior argued that his father would never have agreed to apologising to the kingdom, which he had frequently criticised during media commentary.
The family, led by Mirundi’s elder brother and heir, Mr John Ssali Ssebunnya, visited the Buganda Prime Minister (Katikkiro), Charles Peter Mayiga, at Bulange Mengo to formally apologise.
The Kingdom’s official X account (formerly Twitter) shared images of the meeting, which included Ssebunnya, Mirundi’s widow, and some of his children. During the visit, Katikkiro Mayiga emphasised the importance of responsible communication, especially in the digital age.
“The internet never forgets. If you misuse it, you will live to regret your actions in the future,” Mayiga said, addressing Mirundi’s history of controversial comments and public attacks on the kingdom.
Despite past tensions, the Katikkiro acknowledged the family's efforts to seek reconciliation. “Apologising is a noble act, and I commend the family for coming out to apologise on behalf of the late Mirundi,” he remarked, officially accepting their apology and seeking God’s forgiveness for any wrongs committed by the deceased.
The visit to Mengo was part of the family’s attempt to mend relations with the Buganda Kingdom, which had been strained due to Mirundi’s public criticism, especially during his tenure as President Yoweri Museveni’s press secretary.
