As part of the process of issuing a broadcasting license, UCC needs opinions and comments from the public on whether a given applicant is deserving of the license.

In a media advert run on Thursday, June 29th, the Commission announced that Pastor Mugerwa is seeking to take over operations of See Tv which also trades under the names "Planet Broadcasting Ltd."

The station will be rebranded to “Mutundwe Christian Fellowship (MCF) Broadcasting Ministry Ltd."

Pastor Mugerwa reportedly purchased the struggling station at approximately Shs 800 million.

He’s taking up a 60% stake in the station, while the other shares are in the names of his Justine Mugerwa (20%), his son Solomon Balaba (17%) and Ivan Matovu, a senior pastor at the MCF church (3%).

See Tv went on air in August 2021, but was immediately met with tough financial headwinds.

Staff members complained ceaselessly about difficult working conditions and nonpayment of their salaries.

The workers even approached some public figures including NUP legislator, Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa to help them project their concerns to the relevant authorities.

Eventually, the station was shut down and has been off air to date.

Pastor Mugerwa is hoped to tap into his vast media experience and a massive followership in Uganda and abroad, to revive the station.

Mugerwa boasts of one of the biggest following in different parts of the country, under his MCF Ministries, which he founded back in 1991.

The 62 year old is currently operating a Youtube Television channel which has nearly 150,000 subscribers.

He is also CEO and founder of MCF radio 98.7 FM with sister branches across Uganda.
