The duo were appearing on Baba TV to discuss the recent price points for hiring musicians shared by the National Promoters Association of Uganda.
Mukasa, who also goes by Bajjo and is the Association's coordinator, shared the list and has been fervently defending it despite backlash from musicians. No musician has come out to defend the fees.
During the show, Bajjo says Bobi Wine is the highest rated because the government stopped him from performing at concerts. He also noted that Jose Chameleone, who was ranked below Wine, David Lutalo, Sheebah Karungi and Eddy Kenzo, would be the most expensive but he has failed to create scarcity because he performs wherever he is invited.
Citing a loophole in Bajjo's argument, Lubwama asks: Who stopped Chameleone from performing at concerts?
Bajjo: No one stopped him.
Lubwama: He likes uttering nonsense.
Bajjo: Where was he stopped from performing?
Lubwama: Mityana.
Bajjo: Do you have that authority?
Lubwama: Eeh... Don't joke with me?
Bajjo: Is he running mad?
The conversation, which has been edited and paraphrased to avoid redundancy, later heats up as name-calling begins. Now agitated, Lubwama supports himself with his hands holding onto the chair and sends a kick toward Bajjo. It doesn't connect because the moderator who is in-between holds him back.
The controversial list shows David Lutalo will be booked for Shs6 million, Sheebah Karungi (Shs5.5 million), Eddy Kenzo (Shs5m) while Catherine Kusasira, Juliana Kanyomozi, Spice Diana, Jose Chameleone and Winnie Nwagi will be hired for Shs4 million.
Promoters are willing to pay Shs3.5 million for Mesach Ssemakula, King Saha and Pallaso.
Then for Fik Fameica and Ykee Benda, they are willing to cough anywhere from Shs2 million to 3 million. Vinka has been assigned Shs2 million.
It seems promoters don't rate Bebe Cool that much, as he has been valued at Shs1 million and the least valued singer is Ronald Mayinja who will get anywhere from Shs200,000 to 400,000. From the bottom, the next musician is Big Eye who will earn anywhere from Shs500,000 to Shs800,000.
