Gashumba recounts stalking daughter in city bar with Pastor Ssempa

Frank Gashumba has seen days with his celebrity daughter Shiela.

Frank Gashumba says he stalked his daughter Sheila together with Pastor Marin Ssempa

The loud-talking educator and political commentator says he has gone through hoops and bounds to keep his daughter on track.

His parental instincts once forced him to follow his daughter into a major city hangout to see what she was doing at night.

He says the idea was sold to him by Pastor Martin Ssempa of Makerere Community Church.

We decided with Ssempa to go to Cayenne (known now as The Villa) and spent a night there from 10 pm to 4 am,” Gashumba recounted on NRG Radio yesterday.

“It was as if we were in Luzira Upper Prison. Kids were jumping like frogs… we saw all tribes of alcohol. I did not know there was a bottle of alcohol that cost 4 million.”

At the time, Gashumba says he was concerned that his young daughter was earning too much money and spending all of it.

My challenge was, this girl is making a lot of money; where does it go? She was hosting a show and getting 5 million,” he recalled.

“Afterwards we had an argument about the money and we agreed that she must invest 60 per cent of what she was earning.

“I told her I know you are in show business, but you can spend 40% and invest the rest because by the time you get to 30-35 years, you may not have the opportunity to earn that money.”

Frank Gashumba has had an on-and-off relationship with his daughter, stirred often by her eccentric lifestyle and dating life.

At times he has come out public to disown his daughter citing grave misunderstandings.

During the interview yesterday, Gashumba said although he has at times blamed himself, he does not feel like he has failed as a father.

I have at times felt disappointed but when I speak to other parents, they are going through worse with their kids,” he said.
