Kats will be officially hanging the mic at his upcoming “King of the Mic; the Last Dance” show set for December 2nd and 3rd at Nexus Lounge in Najjera.

The two-day event, he says, will be a celebration of his life and the achievements he has touched over the years.
“I am quitting everything to do with stage and nightlife. I want to focus on my MC Kats Foundation because most of the work there is in the morning hours and I cannot be spending the night out when in the morning I have a board meeting,” he said.
Besides, he said, he thought of giving way to the new crop of emcees that have been popping up in the industry.
“There are now so many kids on the block who are so good…I asked myself why not just leave the space for them so they can also earn something from there,” he said.
“At the time we started out in this business, there wasn’t a lot of money, but right now there are people who are surviving entirely on it.”
Kats, however, revealed that on the advice of his spiritual leaders, he will keep his TV job.
“I am sticking with TV because it is a calling; I spoke to pastor Kayanja and Kayanja Jr and Apostle Grace and they all advised that I should stay on TV.”
Kats also plans to start a gospel music line through his Kats Music franchise where he will be working independently with gospel artists to produce songs and albums that will be sold under his name.
In the same way, great gospel artists such as Kirk Franklin are working, he says, he will be contracting songwriters, and selecting artists and producers to put this music together.
